Vote Saturday for ACC
Election day has arrived, and I ask you to join me and many others in voting
"For"
the two propositions to provide the support that Austin Community College needs to replace state cutbacks and meet community demands for its services.
If the propositions do not pass, ACC will have to both raise student tuition drasticly (limiting access to all programs) and cut back on needed but expensive programs such as nursing and workforce training. All of us will suffer if Austin-area access to higher education is reduced.
The modest increase in ACC taxes (an average of $5/month, phased in over three years -- much less for seniors) will be more than repaid by savings in other social services and in the economic development it will promote. Citizens of all perspectives have united to urge voter approval.
Even if you do not normally vote in city elections,
take a few minutes Saturday to support this vital tool for building individual and community success
. See
